VAB team joins amazing network of VC/PE investors at Volcano Summit 2023
VAB co-cofounder David Fernandez and our membership and business development director Luiz Gonçalves travelled to Guatemala to take part in Volcano Summit 2023 this past weekend. It was a truly inspiring event that brought together an incredible network of roughly 1800 private equity and venture capital company representatives and investors who, we are happy to say, responded well to the idea of VAB as a community where they can source the board advisor and board director talent they need.
We want to extend big congratulations to Janma Bardi Aparicio and Marianne Springmühl who put on an awesome event from start to finish and have built a great networking ecosystem where investors, founders and start-up supporters can meet, network and plan collaboration. Also joining the event were a number of our VAB members from the LATAM region. We want to thank event speaker Alonso Indacochea and his company Iconekta which co-sponsored our special breakfast discussion and networking session for Volcano Summit participants. Further thanks go to VAB member Ivan Comerma who delivered very insightful remarks during the breakfast on how to work with investors to build boards in the start-up space. In addition to that we congratulate Adi Engel who was a featured speaker at the event along with Charlie Sarmiento, who was both an event speaker and also a wonderful host to all our VAB members and VAB candidates who joined the event: Ricardo Ramos Yoshino, Silvana De Paz Pinot, Christian Garcia and Ishai Aloni.
Volcano Summit was inspiring to say the least. In fact, it convinced VAB leadership that it is worthwhile to expand our membership base in Central America and bring some of the region’s amazing board talent into our community. While VAB co-founder David is now headed to Miami to network with VAB members and prospects in that city and the surrounding area, a return to Central America is in the cards, given the board skills and know-how there that can surely enrich the VAB community’s overall knowledge base. After meeting with some of the best, most-skilled board members from the region, the VAB team now plans to work with them to explore how we can boost connections to VC/PE firms active in the region and discuss ways to potentially source talent for their future board director and advisor needs.
