What inspired you to become a member of the Virtual Advisory Board community?
I am keen to find board and advisory opportunities where I can leverage my experience and assist others. I am very interested in meeting people from different backgrounds and with different experiences.
In what area do you feel board advisors can add the most value for Boards of Directors (BoDs) and executive teams?
I think it can be very important to step away from operational considerations and think about the future with less constraints. Being able to work with companies and offer thoughts and advice that can add valuable insights. Personally, I have spent many years working in multiple locations and managing and working with teams crossing geographical and cultural boundaries. I feel the lessons I have learned during that time have stood me well and could certainly be of value to many boards or executive leadership teams (ELTs).
What would be your dream company/organisation to work with as a board advisor/NED?
Ideally, I would love to work with companies in the financial services industry who are looking to grow, to expand in to different geographies or to launch new products.
What book or podcast would you recommend to VAB members that might improve their skills in corporate governance, board advisory or boosting board-to-executive team communications?
I can't think of a single book that would act as a road map for VAB members. I feel it is more important to take something from every conversation, from every book, and from every interaction and remain open to fresh perspectives.
