What inspired you to become a member of the Virtual Advisory Board community?

I was drawn to VAB as a unique platform for networking and exchanging experiences with accomplished peers from around the globe. At this stage of my career, as I transition into a non-executive director role with the company I’ve led for the past few years, I am also preparing for a portfolio career that includes executive advisory work, keynote speaking and education. I found VAB’s value proposition particularly relevant for this journey and see it as an excellent resource for enhancing my impact in these roles.

In what area do you feel board advisors can add the most value for Boards of Directors (BoDs) and executive teams?

Board advisors play a critical role in providing strategic oversight and helping boards connect the dots between diverse business areas. They also add significant vertical expertise and can take ownership (or co-ownership) of specific streams aligned with the board’s priorities. For example, a retailer could assign responsibility for a "beyond trading" project to a board advisor experienced in deriving value from data; thus ensuring that expertise translates into actionable strategies.

What would be your dream company/organisation to work with as a board advisor/NED?

I would be honoured to serve as a board advisor to a global organisation, contributing to the growth and success of top iconic brands. Being part of a company with a strong international footprint and the ambition to innovate at scale would align perfectly with my professional passions and expertise.

What book or podcast would you recommend to VAB members that might improve their skills in corporate governance, board advisory or boosting board-to-executive team communications?

I highly recommend This is Strategy by Seth Godin. It offers practical insights through a series of powerful reflections and observations that will reshape how you approach problems, make decisions and create change.
